Program Overview
- Applicants must have at least two years of full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time) in a skilled trade within the last five years.
- Work experience is verified through employer letters, pay stubs, and tax documents to ensure authenticity and alignment with Canadian standards.
- Language proficiency is required: minimum CLB 5 for speaking and listening and CLB 4 for reading and writing in English or French.
- Applicants must have either a valid job offer from a Canadian employer for at least one year or a certificate of qualification from a Canadian provincial or territorial authority.
- The FSTP pathway facilitates rapid entry for tradespeople, emphasizing practical experience, recognized qualifications, and immediate workforce integration.

The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) is one of the three programs that help international skilled workers get jobs and permanent residence in Canada. This program is managed through the Express Entry Canada platform.
Minimum Requirements
- Adequate language ability.
- 2 years of full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time) in a required skilled trade within the last 5 years.
- Meet job requirements for the skilled trade as per the National Occupational Classification (NOC).
- Have a full-time job offer from a Canadian employer for at least 1 year or a certificate of qualification issued by a provincial, territorial, or federal authority.
Language Requirements
- Minimum CLB 5 for speaking and listening.
- Minimum CLB 4 for reading and writing.
- Approved language tests must be taken, and results must be entered into the applicant profile.
